Offers Quality Care Close to Home

Since its opening in April 2001, Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Care at Waltham has provided patients with comprehensive radiation oncology services, right in their local community. The 7,000 square foot center offers a sophisticated level of radiation therapy services, including a Varian EX linear accelerator that facilitates delivery of 3-D conformal radiation therapy.

Recently the Department of Public Health approved a change in ownership of the center’s linear accelerator from Waltham Hospital to BIDMC, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the center after the July closing of Waltham Hospital.

“This state-of-the-art facility offers the same level of academic-quality care and technical sophistication available to patients at the downtown medical center,” says Mary Ann Stevenson, M.D., Ph.D., chair of radiation oncology at BIDMC. “At the same time, it offers patients the convenience of receiving their care closer to their homes and family.”
