The following letter, printed with the author’s permission, was recently sent to Pam Hulme, pathology:

Dear Ms. Hulme:

I am writing to commend you on one of your exceptional employees, [phlebotomist] Valentina Budantsev. I am a patient of Pastor Medical Group in Brookline (Dr. Jonathan Blumberg is my primary care physician), and needed to have routine blood work done. However, I had a horrible fear of blood tests. Thanks to Dr. Blumberg and his colleagues at Pastor, and specifically to Val, I think I am starting to finally get over this fear. I found Val to be highly competent, skilled and extremely patient. She was very accommodating and made sure that I had a place to lie down for the procedure. I virtually felt no pain or discomfort and was very calm, all thanks to Val. She should be commended and recognized for her expertise, patience and genuine hard work.
